Just after returning from vacation, we found ourselves unwinding in our backyard hot tub in Park City, Utah, when the night sky put on a show unlike anything we’d ever seen. Initially, my partner spotted two moving lights perfectly spaced apart. Thinking they might be satellites, I was ready to dismiss it—until a third, fourth, and fifth light appeared. The number kept climbing as I counted each moving light, awestruck, up to 14, and then more continued streaming across the sky.
We stopped counting after we realized there were more than twenty lights, all maintaining perfect spacing from each other as though choreographed in an eerie cosmic dance. We watched, jaws agape, as this extraordinary formation slid silently through the star-studded night.
Then, as if guided by some unseen command, all the lights disappeared simultaneously at the very same point in the sky. The precision and mystery of the moment left an impression that still lingers—a brief encounter with the unknown, quietly unfolding over Park City’s calm night.
