One evening in September 2011, as a gentle darkness settled over Lethbridge, Alberta, my wife and I found ourselves at Galt Gardens, nestled on the corner of 5th Street South and 3rd Avenue South, engrossed in an outdoor movie. But the silver screen’s glow was soon overshadowed by an otherworldly spectacle high above us.
Without warning, five glowing objects sliced across the starlit sky. They were circle-shaped, their outlines ablaze with a vivid red light that traced each object’s edge like a spectral halo, while their centers remained deep and unsettlingly black. Their speed was staggering, fast enough to cross half the sky in just about five seconds, silent in their journey from north to south.
At first, these glowing orbs seemed to form a precise V formation. Yet, as my wife caught sight of them, the pattern shifted, movements twisting and swirling like a cluster of balloons caught in a silent dance. Their flight was both mesmerizing and inexplicable, defying any earthly explanation.
Despite their swift passage, I managed to point them out to my wife, sharing the silent awe of this mysterious encounter. The size, altitude, and distance eluded us entirely in the darkness, but the memory of those glowing red circles remains etched sharply in my mind. I wanted to alert everyone around, but before realization could morph into action, the apparition vanished into the night, leaving a chilling emptiness and a story that still haunts the quiet Alberta skies.
