While enjoying a tranquil evening in our outdoor jacuzzi in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, an extraordinary sight broke the stillness of the night. To the southeast, a bright red sphere appeared, moving steadily in a northwesterly direction as if drawn closer to us. Over the span of two minutes, the sphere grew noticeably brighter, unveiling pulsating white lights that flickered in rhythm. These luminous pulsations seemed intensified by its passage through clouds hovering around 5,000 feet high.
What made this sighting even more surreal was the presence of a smaller red object that preceded the larger sphere, maintaining a consistent distance between them throughout the observation. Both objects glided silently, their colors shifting subtly amid the darkened sky until, eventually, they slipped behind local buildings, leaving only a lingering sense of wonder.
The experience was reminiscent of a similar sighting from the end of August, though this time, the spectacle unfolded in a different quadrant of the sky. As a retired oil company executive and together with my wife, a business administrator, we stood transfixed by this enigmatic display. The sphere’s changing color and its delicate beams of light left us questioning the nature of what we had just witnessed.
This extraordinary event amidst Ajijic’s serene night sky continues to haunt my thoughts, a vivid reminder that sometimes, the universe decides to share its mysteries in brief, breathtaking moments.
