On December 18, 2015, around 5:35 PM CST, I had an encounter that remains vivid in my memory. In the northeastern quadrant of Neshoba County, Mississippi, a craft of unknown size hovered silently for about two minutes. Although it was just after sunset, there was still enough light to see my dog about 75 yards away, yet the bright lights on this object obscured its shape entirely.
The craft had a curious configuration of lights — three bright, intense lights on the top and three on the bottom, aligned as if on a straight line. These lights were so dazzling that they concealed any discernible details of the craft’s form. I observed it hovering patiently from a distance of roughly three-quarters of a mile, gazing at an angle of about 30 degrees.
After watching for the duration, I stepped inside my house to summon someone else to witness this strange sight. But when I stepped back outside moments later, the object had vanished, leaving a stillness broken only minutes after by a jet flying from north to south. Interestingly, nearby installations like Columbus Air Force Base and Meridian Naval Air Station lie about 50 miles away to the NNE and SSE respectively, possibly hinting at a connection.
With a background as a meteorologist for the Army and academic credentials in business and education, I can assure you this experience was genuine and left a profound impression. Witnessing this unexplained phenomenon — a hovering craft with extraordinary luminous displays — in the quiet skies of Philadelphia, MS, was both haunting and unforgettable.
