Driving through Monmouth, Oregon on a clear afternoon, I caught sight of what initially appeared to be a simple white balloon drifting in the sky. The blue sky was pristine, and I thought perhaps it was just a balloon released during a nearby celebration. Yet, my curiosity held me fixed on the object—it possessed an intriguing quality that made it impossible to look away. I had an unobstructed view, and for a full ten seconds, the phenomenon unfolded before me.
Within moments, a brilliant blue light began to emanate from the object, swelling to a size rivaling the planets or large stars seen in the night sky. During this brief display, the original balloon-like shape seemed to shrink, overwhelmed by the radiance of the glowing blue core. The light reached its zenith of brightness, vibrant and arresting, before gradually diminishing as if the entity was moving away, until it vanished entirely a few seconds later.
This experience was unexpected for me. As a Russian major studying in the Midwest, I’d been interested in UFOs and the mysteries of the sky but never imagined witnessing something of this nature firsthand. The fleeting yet vivid spectacle has left me with lingering questions and a deep sense of wonder about what truly inhabits the vast heavens above us. For anyone fascinated by enigmatic sightings and unexplained aerial phenomena, this encounter is a compelling reminder that sometimes our skies whisper secrets just beyond the veil of the ordinary.
