On a quiet evening in Sebastopol, California, an extraordinary spectacle unfolded that defies easy explanation. I was relaxing in my hot tub when my gaze was drawn skyward by what initially seemed to be an airplane’s flashing lights. Yet, as I observed more closely, I saw something wholly unfamiliar — two sets of bright green lights, flashing in a vivid shade unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, reminiscent of glowing light sticks.
These lights moved downward toward the earth and then merged, transforming into a single cluster of 5 to 6 flashing lights. Alerting my husband to this peculiarity, we watched as the formation shifted diagonally, expanding impressively. The lights grew numerous, between 12 and 15, arranged in a square pattern, each flashing in sequence from left to right.
The entire event lasted about five seconds, but it left an indelible mark. Our neighborhood dogs erupted into persistent barking that lingered well after the lights vanished, underscoring the strangeness of this encounter.
The presence of these etching green lights, their dynamic transformations, and the surrounding reactions make this sighting a haunting and vivid mystery. Such unexplained aerial phenomena compel us to look beyond the sky’s surface, questioning our perceptions and the nature of what traverses the night above us.
