It was around 7:15 pm on October 23, 2013, when I stepped outside for a cigarette in my backyard in North Andover, Massachusetts. What I saw that evening still haunts my memory. Off in the distance, below a thick layer of clouds, three or four lights formed a distinct chevron or triangular shape. The object moved gracefully in a slow turn, making it difficult at times to discern its exact form.
I live close to a municipal airport and have seen countless aircraft throughout my life, but nothing compares to the size and aura of this mysterious craft. The lights appeared to be connected, suggesting a single enormous object, but its massive scale was almost unimaginable from so far away. A single red light flashed intermittently, and nearby, a smaller plane or jet seemed to be chasing or tailing this huge presence in the sky.
Because of the distance and cloud cover, it was hard to determine whether the craft made any sound. I caught glimpses of it for just a few minutes—approximately five—but those moments were enough to convince me that this was no ordinary aircraft.
